Description:

Suk'uti'lshchn "Floating Horn" was a name of Thomas Prosper. On a photograph belonging to the Smithsonian it is spelled Suckitillschinor. Name analysis: Suk'w -ut -i'lshchn, suk'w "float, -ut "to be in position", -i'lshchn "horn" Tmł‚pu'smn "No Heart" was an ancestor of Tom Prosper. According to Father Joset, Temisposemen was a headman in 1849, and Ignace Temisposemen, probably the same person, was the first chief to receive baptism. Bonaventure Tempolsenxul, possibly the same person or a relative, signed the treaty of 1858. See also, Tmpł‚pu'smn and Anastmł‚pu, which probably refer to the same person. Compare Tmł‚pu who may be a descendant. See also, Sihmalxetsin. Anastmł‚pu is a short form of tmpł‚pu'smn "No Heart", a long ago chief of the Coeur d'Alene River division. Name analysis: Tm -p -ł‚ -pus -mn, tm "no", -p "becoming", ł‚ "for", pu's "heart", -mn "used for, means of". The first version may be from Anasta. The term recorded by Teit as Tmpł‚pusmn was probably actually Tmpł‚pu'smn.
