Pine Creek
literal: place for roping. hngwsumn [pine creek] was just to the west of the Steptoe battle ground and could be seen by the thirsty soldiers. Ingossomen is the way Captain John Mullen wrote it down when he was surveying the Coeur d'Alene territory in the 1850s. Near the north end of Rock Lake [Spector Lake] Ingossomen joined with a stream called aguasep. The stream formed from this joining of ingossomen and aguasep was called slslpspułtsn "Foam swirling on the mouth" or "Sipping at the mouth." Aguasep must have been the northern branch of Rock Creek and slslpspułtsn must have been Rock Creek itself.
