Description:
Oval, cedar root bundle construction, coiled basket. Geometric, imbricated design. Braided lobelled rim. Buckskin loop., height: 9"; Diameter: 8"; circumference: 25 1/2",
Cultural Narrative:
I think it's somebody's first making or when they're older. Because the work kind of goes back to where you were young too. It has the huckleberry string tie looks on the top and it still has yellow cord in there, where you hook your belt through there and wear it on your waist. It has the usual components for cedar baskets in there. See how the characters are huge? That's why I think it was a younger person. Because they couldn't get as a tight weave, the design had to be bigger for them. Vivian Adams, Marlene Simlaw
