Cultural Narrative:
1908 photograph of Eagle Roaring, a Nez Perce warrior who fought in the Nez Perce Wars in 1877. Known to white people as George Comedown, Eagle Roaring belonged to the group of Nez Perce traditionalists who actively shared their cultural knowledge with L.V. McWhorter. Almost every year after the wheat harvest, Eagle Roaring, among others, would board a train to páasx?pa (Walla Walla) in order to participate in the frontier days festival. Nez Perce culture was showcased, yet also kept alive.
