Cultural Narrative: 

Sitting Nez Perce woman and child; Mrs. Minnie Joe and baby, qemúynuu (Chief Joseph's band) Nez Perce. This baby won the first prize, a silver cup, over twenty nine other Native American babies, in a contest under the auspices of the woman's club of Yakima, 2 October, 1910. The second and third prize were carried off by the lex?éyuu (Yakima). The show was a feature of the annual Washington State Fair.
