Lamáta (White Bird Battlefield) Marker [1932]

Cultural Narrative: 

Marker commemorates the Lamáta (White Bird Battle), where the Nez Perce won a victory on 16th June 1877 against Capt. Perry of the U.S. Army leading 111 men- 11 volunteers stationed to the Rock hills on his left, 40 men from Co. F on the Front "line," 40 men from Co. H on Right, and the rest holding the horses in the rear. Perry lost 34 soldiers killed, 2 soldiers wounded, and 2 volunteers wounded, while the Nez Perce had only 3 wounded and recovered almost 63 rifles with ammunition.
