Miss Cecil Chiliwhist Poses at Matsura's Studio, ca. 1910

With one foot propped up on a blanketed chair, Miss Cecil Chiliwhist gets her portrait taken at Matsura's studio. She wears her shawl over her head and tied onone side; the expression on her face adds to the dramatic pose. She is the niece of Chiliwhist Jim, a Methow Indian from Malott who prospered near Okanogan as a rancher.
