Moccasins

Cultural Narrative:

This pair of moccasins is made from buckskin with buckskin straps to tie around the ankles when worn. While some pairs of moccasins have additional decorations, these moccasins have no additional decorations, embroidery, or embellishments. Evidence suggests this style of moccasins was worn by the Nimíipuu (Nez Perce) during the Nez Perce War of 1877. Due to the likelihood these moccasins were worn during the time of the Nez Perce War of 1877, this pair of moccasins was most likely made by Nimíipuu (Nez Perce) peoples in 1877 or earlier.
