School is shut, Indians peeved (1923)

Description: 

A newspaper clipping from the Spokesman Review concerning the 1923 closure of the agency Indian school and the opening of a state insane asylum in its' place, much to the anger of the locals. Also concerns the mismanagement of the school as well as the unhappiness of Umatilla parents having to send their children away to Pendleton for school. The Umatilla and Cayuse are seeking aid of federated women's clubs to back their rights to land and resources.
