This image is a side-profile of the piyopyóot’alikt (Peo Peo Tholekt) wearing a wool coat, which is fringed along the shoulder. On the front of his chest, a star is pinned to his shirt. On verso of photograph, an unidentified source wrote "Chief Peo Peo Tholekt (Pelican) Warrior Nez Perce War 1875. War Narration in MSS written by L.V. McWhorter, Idaho." piyopyóot’alikt (Peo-Peo Tholekt or George Peo) was a decorated Nez Perce warrior. During the 1877 conflict, piyopyóot’alikt (Peo Peo Tholekt) served under the command of ’elelímyeté’qenin’ (Chief Looking- Glass). During the ‘ickum’kiléelixpe (Big Hole Battle), piyopyóot’alikt (Peo Peo Tholekt) assisted in capturing and dismantling a howitzer.
